Summer Shipp was missing for 2 years and 10 months.

March 13 - 16, 2008 The CUE CENTER FOR MISSING PERSONS held their 4th annual National Round Table Conference for Missing Persons in Wilmington, NC.
Brandy was honored to speak of Summer Shipp at the Vigil.

On March 29, 2008, family and friends finally laid Summer Shipp to rest, more than three years after she disappeared.

Friends and Family attended Shipp's burial at Livingston Cemetery in Iberia, MO.

"The "Summer Shipp Act"

Kelly Jolkowski of Project Jason (www.projectjason.org) has spearheaded a National Campaign for the Missing. Brandy, along with other Missourians, has volunteered to represent the State of Missouri, which is now the 9th State to have secured sponsorship! Thank you to Representative Bryan Pratt for sponsoring this important bill! On February 7, 2007, the bill was assigned a number, HB 757! The Campaign for the Missing model legislation is a procedural mandate for law enforcement and other officials who are involved in missing persons and/or unidentified persons. The law established procedures for the handling of missing persons and unidentified remains, including the use of DNA to solve both case types. To read the bill text click HB 757

May 1, 2005 CANDLELIGHT VIGIL

Summer Shipp disappeared on Dec. 8, 2004, while doing door-to-door market research in Independence, Mo. Summer was last seen in the 1500 block of West College Terrace in Independence.

There has been recent mention of the $100,000 reward money offered by the Shipp family. I would like to clarify that practically all of the $100,000 was not “raised”, but “guaranteed” by way of people committing to contribute certain amounts of money toward the fund if/when it was needed to be paid out. The money would only be needed and collected upon the safe return of Summer Shipp, which was sadly not the case. However, there is a reward (amount to be determined) for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for this crime.

Shortly after the disappearance, there were two billboards, five Metro Busses, 30 Yellow Cabs, and 50,000 flyers displaying Summer's photograph and contact information in the hope that someone will recognize her and help us bring Summer home soon.
