December 8, 2006Self-defense classes offered
It has been two years since Summer Shipp disappeared in Independence while conducting door-to-door market research. In her honor, the Achieve Foundation will conduct free self-defense classes for women this weekend.
The classes will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Screenland Theatre at 17th and Washington streets in Kansas City.
Women interested in the classes should arrive at the theater between 8 and 11 a.m. on either day.
The Achieve Foundation is a nonprofit group that helps at-risk youth gain skills necessary to succeed in life and also assists women with skills they need to reduce violence.
